In this workshop, you will use handbuilding techniques to create your own custom lamp. We will guide you through pinching, coiling, and carving in order to shape and assemble your piece. You will gain skills in creating texture, building form, and thinking about function, resulting in a personalized lamp to illuminate your space in style.

Perfect for both beginners and those with some experience, this workshop offers a blend of creativity and craftsmanship. 

We will take care of firing and glazing your pieces after the workshop. During that time, students should source lamp shades that match their creation. When we meet again for day two, each person will be given a lamp kit and lightbulb and we will assemble the lamps together. Each student will make one lamp. Clay, tools, and lamp kits provided (you will find the shade on your own!)

Dates: 

Day One - Handbuilding: Tuesday, October 22nd from 5:30-8:30 PM

Day Two - Assembly: Tuesday, November 26th from 6-7 PM

Location: The Mud Room SE (2011 SE 10th Ave). Please note the correct location, as we have two studios.

A little about Danielle: 

Danielle's teaching style follows the fundamental skills of wheel-throwing while pushing each individual towards achieving their own personal goals. She brings an open mind, friendly demeanor, enthusiasm, and an adaptable teaching style to her classes to meet students where they are. Danielle hopes to inspire creativity and foster community within her classes and believes that the most valuable pottery education comes from community studios much like The Mud Room.

Cancellation Policy: Please let us know 2 weeks in advance of your class if you’d like to cancel. If you cancel with fewer than 14 days left, unfortunately we cannot give a refund. If you have to miss class due to COVID we are not able to offer refunds or credits. If your teacher has to miss class due to COVID or otherwise, we will do our best to find a substitute teacher. If there is no substitute teacher available we will reschedule class for a later date.
